MANILA, Philippines — It has been an eventful week for Filipino Valorant player Adrian “invy” Reyes, who just last week exited his longtime squad, Team Secret, joined powerhouse organization Paper Rex, and is now an international tournament winner.
This as Paper Rex won the 2025 Valorant Radiant International Invitational in Fuzhou, China.
Reyes’ debut match with the team saw Paper Rex beat Nova Esports, 13-5. But the team then suffered back-to-back loses against FunPlus Phoenix (13-15) and Gen.G Esports (11-13). It capped off the group stages with a win over Bilibili Gaming, 13-9, to advance to the next round.
In the playoffs, the Paper Rex Express was in full speed. It survived G2 Esports, 2-1, in the quarterfinals and avenged its earlier loss with a 2-0 sweep over FunPlus Phoenix to set up an all-Pacific Grand Finals against Gen.G Esports—a team Paper Rex has not beaten since last year despite facing each other six times.
The South Korean squad seemed to be on the brink of once again beating Paper Rex as it opened the best-of-five grand finals with a dominant display on its map pick Abyss at 5-13. But Paper Rex answered back with a 13-5 win in their map pick, Split. With the series tied, Paper Rex’ defense was unstoppable in Haven, which the team the map advantage at 13-3.
With its backs against the wall, Gen.G managed to keep its hopes alive after reaching a 7-7 round on Bind. But the express revved into full gear, taking five consecutive rounds to secure back-to-back championships.
The win sees Reyes lift his first trophy with Paper Rex, his second overall as he previously won the Asia-Pacific Predator League with Team Secret back in 2023.
As the off-season of Valorant Esports concludes, all eyes shift to the coming 2026 season, with the kickoff regional tournaments across the Valorant Champions Tour set to begin in January.
